Hovercraft Mk I

This is a stationary disc-shaped hovercraft. It can only move down hills, and it requires perfect balance in order to hover.

The technology behind it is simpler than most people realize. The engine pumps air underneath the craft where it is contained by the "skirt," a piece of cloth, or in this case pond liner. This high pressure air area is often called a "cushion of air."

From the start I had intended to make Hovercraft Mk II. The point was that I would learn a lot about hovercraft from this project, and would thus be able to make a Hovercraft Mk II that I couldn't have dreamed of making as my first hovercraft. It served its purpose. It's not an exceptional hovercraft in any way, but it taught me what I needed to know. Because of it, Mk II will rock socks.
